It’s no surprise that nearly all our core technologies were initially intended for academic research, given our outgrowth from the innovation alliance program within the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego.

While industry is well-served by these technologies and products, academia can still benefit. For example, pilot projects are currently underway for the installation of borehole seismometers to better serve US seismic observatories, optical fiber strain sensors are being developed for onshore boreholes and offshore seafloor sites and AUV-based sensors continue to be developed.
